Cinema Admissions: Top Ten Movies per Weekend

Cinemas in Germany suffered from the COVID-19 pandemic from March 2020 to March 2022. They were closed in March, April, May, June, November, December 2020 by order of the government for a total time of 25 weeks. In 2021 theaters had to be closed from January to June. Due to a lack of attractive movies most of the cinemas reopened step-by-step until the end of September 2021 after closing times of 25 up to 38 weeks. In November and December 2021 the pandemic increased again and the local authorities indroduced several restrictions for public life with the result of a major drop in the number of cinema visitors. To comply with hygenic safety rules only vaccinated or recovered and daily tested persons wearing a FFP2 mask were allowed to visit a cinema. To assure a minimum distance in cinemas more than a half of all seats were not available. These regulations were valid until the end of March 2022.

Established since the 1960s these cinemas show films from around the world on various topics, too.
